AGARTALA:

The Tripura government is mulling to set up a state-of-the-art nephrology department in the state aiming to render health service to kidney patients, said Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Wednesday.

Deb today attended a blood donation camp organized by the Badharghat Mandal committee of the BJP party at Dukli Block in West Tripura district.

The Chief Minister said that the protection of human health is a priority of the government. “One of the first successful open-heart surgeries in the state was held in the state’s AGMC and GBP Hospital by our doctors,” Deb said.

“Although a lot of money was spent on this type of surgery, it was done completely free of cost for the woman patient under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. In addition to open heart surgery, a number of heart surgeries have been successfully performed,” Deb said.

He said that Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Hospital set up in the state has emerged as one of the well-served hospitals in the eastern region. Significant work is being done to reduce the number of out-of-state referrals to zero soon by developing state-of-the-art health infrastructure and providing services, he said.
