Continuing his tradition of spending Diwali with the armed forces and other security forces on the borders, Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the festival of lights on Thursday with personnel from the Border Security Force (BSF), Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force in the Sir Creek area of Gujarat's Kutch.
In response to the increasing number of cases, Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel is set to visit Lakhpat village to assess the situation and will hold meetings with health department officials to devise necessary steps to be taken to bring the situation under control.
The individual, identified as Dinesh Laxmanan Thevar from Theni district in Tamil Nadu, was found wandering suspiciously in the vicinity of the border. He was taken into custody on Tuesday evening by state police's intelligence personnel.
Among others present during this vital inspection were MP Vinodbhai Chavda, MLA Keshubhai Patel, In-charge Secretary Harshad Patel, MD of PGVCL Preeti Sharma, and associated officials.
The very severe cyclonic storm Biparjoy, currently over Saurashtra and Kutch which moved northeastwards with a speed of 13 kmph during the past six hours, will weaken significantly on Friday.
The IMD predicts that Biparjoy will make landfall near Jakhau Port this evening. The authorities have alerted residents about the potential risks associated with the cyclone, including damage to structures, uprooted trees and heavy rainfall.
