Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared pictures of his visit to the Maha Kumbh on Wednesday, expressing that the devotion and spirituality of the event had deeply moved him.  

A day after at least 30 people were killed in a predawn stampede at the Maha Kumbh, the Uttar Pradesh government has enforced stricter measures for better crowd management and safety of devotees as it restricted vehicular movement, cancelled VIP passes, increased security deployment, and ended needless restrictions on the pontoon bridges that connect the mela city.

The Maha Kumbh, one of the most sacred festivals in Hinduism, is underway in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, with over 15 crore pilgrims taking a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers. 

Gautam Adani, the Chairman of the Adani Group along with his wife Priti Adani made a heartfelt visit to the Maha Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj on Tuesday, to participate in the 'Ganga Puja' and 'Mahaprasad Seva'.

A fire broke out at the Maha Kumbh Mela venue in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, reportedly following the explosion of two gas cylinders inside a tent. The fire quickly spread to several nearby tents, burning them to the ground. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Prayagraj on Friday and lauded the tireless efforts of employees and sanitation workers involved in the preparations for the grand Maha Kumbh 2025.

“The blessings of saints are the foundation of everything good in Mahakumbh. This time too, we look forward to their guidance for the fair administration,” the Chief Minister said during an interaction with saints in the Maha Kumbh Mela area.

After declaring the Maha Kumbh area in Prayagraj as a new district, the Uttar Pradesh government is setting up a luxury tent city with more than 2,000 swiss cottage-style tents in Sector 20 (Arail) of the Mahakumbh Mela area to accommodate crores of devotees expected for the Mahakumbh 2025.

Preparations for the grand Maha Kumbh 2025 are in full swing under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, as the world eyes this upcoming monumental event in Uttar Pradesh. 

During the Mahakumbh 2025, the sale of meat and alcohol will be prohibited within the limits of Prayagraj. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced this on Sunday in the presence of representatives from all 13 akhadas. He stated that the Mahakumbh is organised under the guidance of the akhadas, which are the flag bearers of Sanatan Dharma, with the state government providing support.

For the first time in the Maha Kumbh, scheduled to be held in early 2025, saints and seers of different akharas will be given identity cards that will give them access to the Mela areas, said a top Akhara Parishad official.

Charges have been framed against three killers of slain gangster Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf in the Court of Additional Sessions Judge. Three accused, who are presently lodged in Chitrakoot jail, appeared through video conferencing before the court.

The Allahabad High Court on Monday rejected the plea filed by Muslim side challenging the Varanasi court order allowing Hindu parties to offer prayers and puja in the southern cellar of the Gyanvapi Mosque.

The Allahabad High Court has approved the bail application of Mukhtar Ansari in the case. Besides, the fine of Rs 5 lakh imposed by the court has also been stayed. However, the court has not stayed the punishment. Hearing on punishment will continue in the court.

In a shocking development, the forensic examination report has confirmed that the blood stains found in the partially demolished office of gangster Atiq Ahmed in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj district was human blood, police said.

A police team that reached the office of slain gangster-politician Atiq Ahmad in Chakia on Monday morning for a routine investigation, was shocked to find a blood-stained knife and clothes in one of the rooms.

Lovelesh Tiwari, Sunny Singh and Arun Maurya, the three assailants who gunned down mafia-politician Atiq Ahmad and his younger brother Khalid Azeem a.k.a Ashraf here on April 15, had come to Lucknow before reaching Prayagraj by bus to carry out the killings.

Rita Bahuguna Joshi, who is now in the BJP, said: "Sonia Gandhi did call me up and asked to intervene following which I called the district administration and consequently Atiq Ahmed pulled back in that case."

Days after mafia Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf were shot dead, a lettter of Atiq's wife Shaista Parveen is going viral on social media in which she had expressed apprehension that the duo might be killed on the pretext of remand in the case.
