According to the Air Quality Early Warning System For Delhi, the air quality is likely to be in the Poor category from January 20 to 21. While for the next six days, the air quality is likely to be in the 'Very Poor' to 'Poor' category.

Dense fog blanketed Delhi-NCR on Sunday, leading to significant disruptions in train schedules across multiple routes and challenging travel conditions for commuters. 

Delhi's air quality saw a significant improvement on Friday morning, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 294, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). However, the national capital and surrounding cities continued to witness dense fog, which caused delays in train services.

The CAQM had, on January 12, revoked Stage-3 restrictions after the AQI in Delhi improved due to rainfall. Stage-IV restrictions include a ban on all construction activities, the entry of non-essential polluting trucks into Delhi, and the mandatory shift of school classes, except for classes 10 and 12, to hybrid mode.

The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) recorded more than 155 delays and eight cancellations. The delays were reported for aircraft not equipped with advanced CAT III navigation systems.

On the first day of the 40-day period of extreme winter cold called the 'Chillai Kalan' on Saturday, Srinagar city froze at minus 8.5 degrees Celsius, recording the lowest temperature since 2000.

The severe cyclonic storm is expected to hit the Odisha coast between Bhitarkanika in Kendrapara district and Dhamra in Bhadrak district on October 24 night and October 25 morning.

Authorities in Odisha and the neighbouring state of West Bengal are on a 'high alert mode' as the cyclonic storm 'Dana' likely to be formed in Bay of Bengal on Wednesday is expected to make landfall in Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar islands during the night of October 24 and early morning of October 25.

Keeping in view the impending severe cyclonic storm ‘Dana’, the Odisha government on Monday ordered the closure of schools in 14 affected districts across the state from October 23rd to 25th as a precautionary measure.
