In a major development, the suspected killer who chopped 26-year-old Mahalaxmi, a single working woman in Bengaluru, into more than 50 pieces and stuffed the body parts into a fridge has committed suicide by hanging, police sources on Wednesday.

In a major development, the Special Court for MLAs/MPs in Bengaluru on Wednesday gave the nod for an investigation against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam case.

The prime suspect in the gruesome case of a woman's killing at her home, the chopping up of her body into pieces, and stuffing them into the fridge, where her horrified family found them, has been identified, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayananda said on Monday.

The incident was reported from Veeranna Bhavana near Pipeline Road, located within the limits of Vyalikaval police station of the city. As per preliminary investigation, the deceased woman has been identified as Mahalaxmi, 26, who hailed from West Bengal or Chhattisgarh.

The Karnataka BJP on Saturday lodged a police complaint with the High Grounds police station in Bengaluru against Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi.
