The Nitish Kumar government got 129 votes in Bihar assembly while the opposition leaders walked out from the House. Three RJD MLAs -- Chetan Anand of Sheohar, Neelam Devi of Mokama and Prahlad Yadav -- voted in favour of Nitish Kumar government.

Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader Nitish Kumar on Sunday was sworn-in as Chief Minister of Bihar for the ninth time -- hours after he dissolved his Cabinet by walking out of the 'Mahagathbandhan' to once again join hands with the BJP.

Nitish Kumar dissolved the Mahagathbandhan government in Bihar after resigning from the post of chief minister on Sunday, and with this he has reached the same stage where he left the NDA on August 9, 2022. This was the fifth time in the last 10 years that he changed alliances.

Nitish Kumar also blamed the RJD leaders for making several statements against him. “They were making several statements against me. Working with RJD has turned out very tough and hence I have broken the alliance with them,” Kumar said.

During the core committee meeting, leaders like Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Lalan Singh, Ashok Chaudhary, Sanjay Kumar Jha, Bijendra Yadav and others were present. JD-U has also taken the signatures of all MLAs of the party.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is likely to form the new government in the state next week with support of BJP by once again ditching his alliance partners RJD and other members of Mahagathbandhan.

JD(U) MLC Neeraj Kumar on Monday slammed his alliance partner RJD MLA Ajay Yadav for his remarks that BJP will explode bombs in Ayodhya and blame Pakistanis backed militant organisations or Muslims to gain electorally in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Three persons -- two elderly women and a minor boy -- died and 14 others were injured in a stampede at a Durga Puja Pandal in Bihar's Gopalganj district on Monday evening, police said.

A man, who was released from jail five months ago and was involved in Bihar’s biggest gold loot, was gunned down by four bike-borne assailants in Vaishali, said officials on Monday.

A tribal woman in Bihar’s Munger district was kidnapped and gang raped by 6 persons, police said on Friday. The accused kidnapped the woman from Maoist-affected Haveli Kharagpur village and took her to an isolated place and sexually assaulted her.

A Bihar Military Police (BMP) jawan was lynched by his relative over property dispute in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Vipendra Kumar Singh.

The victim has been identified as Kishan Dev Chaurasia (45) and a 20-year-old girl. Chaurasia is a music teacher who plays harmonium in religious (Bhajan Kirtan) programmes in the district and also gives tuition to youngsters.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, who returned here from his US visit on Sunday, said that he, along with his RJD's chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, will do "surgery" of the BJP in the coming days.
