Rajya Sabha MP Ajit Bhuyan has lodged an FIR against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his remarks against Bangladeshi-origin Muslim settlers ('Miya') in the state.

Sarma said Assam also experiences flooding due to the water coming from China and Bhutan but his administration has "set a scientific response" rather than blaming the governments of those countries.

Two persons have been arrested here after gold bars -- smuggled from Bangladesh valued at Rs 34 lakh --  were found in their possession,  an official said on Saturday. The police said the gold was seized on Friday night during a special operation.
