India sees France as a natural partner in the country's developmental journey, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in Paris on Friday. The Prime Minister said that in the war against terrorism, India and France have always been together.

The 73 days of penance has been rewarded with the successful orbiting of Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft by India's heavy lift rocket LVM3, said a senior official of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

Speaking after the launch Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman S.Somanath ssaid that, “Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft has started its journey towards the moon. The LVM3 rocket orbited the spacecraft precisely at the intended orbit.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day visit to France, will be the guest of honour at the Bastille Day parade in Paris on Friday. Modi will also meet the Indian tri-service contingent, which is participating in the parade, as well as French President Emmanuel Macron.

A four-stage pattern has been maintained in West Bengal over the panchayat polls by the ruling Trinamool Congress this time, according to the former Union law  minister and the BJP Lok Sabha member Ravi Shankar Prasad.

As the countdown for the launch of India's third mission to the moon -- Chandrayaan-3 -- progressed smoothly with millions of people waiting with bated breath, a team of students has built a critical motor for the Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) indigenous spacecraft to the moon.

European Space Agency (ESA) from its various centres will be tracking India's Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft's progress and health, said the space agency, adding that it will also lend support to some future missions.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour, France's highest award, by French President Emmanuel Macron. He is the first Indian Prime Minister to receive the honour.

Even though the Chandrayaan-3 mission is helmed by men, unlike the Chandrayaan-2 mission, a sizable number of women are behind the former, said a senior official of the Indian space agency.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India and France have agreed on usage of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) mechanism and it will begin from the Eiffel Tower, which means Indian tourists can pay in rupees to visit the world famous site.

"India and France are tackling many challenges of the 21st century. Therefore, at this crucial juncture, the importance of the strategic partnership between our countries has increased even more," Modi said.

"The price of green cucumber has gone to Rs 80 per kg, colocasia at Rs 130 per kg, French beans at Rs 220 per kg, Ginger at Rs 400 to 470 per kg, black brinjal at Rs 100 to 120 per kg, pointed gourd at Rs 100 to 120 per kg," he said.

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) , in a meeting chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, on Thursday approved proposals to procure 26 Rafale-Marine fighter jets and three Scorpene diesel-electric submarines for the Indian Navy.
