Karnataka's opposition JD-S on Sunday blasted the Bengaluru civic agency over the death of 22-year-old Infosys staffer, who fell sick after her car got stuck in an underpass inundated with water and succumbed in a hospital later.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday said that 'no one in BJP has lost their life due to terrorism, but Late Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi died in terror attacks.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said that the people of Karnataka defeated "hatred and money power of the BJP", while also ensuring that the five guarantees made by the party will be implemented within hours of the first Cabinet meeting.

"It is not like the previous government where one disliked the other. This government will take everyone along, together. We will keep our word unlike the BJP which tells and does different things," he added.

Siddaramaiah and D.K. Shivakumar on Saturday took oath as the new Karnataka Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, respectively, at the swearing in ceremony of the new Congress government in the state.

After AICC announced him as the Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah issued a press statement about his life. "I will continue to relentlessly work to ensure justice to every Kannadiga and uphold the pride of Karnataka," he said.

Karnataka Congress President D.K. Shivakumar is set to take oath as the Deputy Chief Minister on May 20 here after the party high command chose Siddaramaiah over him for the state's top post.

As the Congress high command has decided to appoint Siddaramaiah as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, State party President D.K. Shivakumar's brother and MP from Bengaluru Rural, D.K. Suresh said he was "not fully happy" with the turn of events.
