A total of 3,038 lab-confirmed cases of various subtypes of influenza including H3N2 have been reported till March 9 by the states, as per the latest data available on IDSP-IHIP (Integrated Health Information Platform).

According to doctors, the precautions people should take include -- keeping body immunity adequate and avoiding close contact with unknown people, particularly avoiding crowded places.

Meanwhile, India has recorded its first two deaths due to seasonal influenza subtype H3N2, one each from Karnataka and Haryana. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Friday also asked states to be on alert and closely monitor the situation in view of 'rising' cases.

According to state health department officers, once the centre comes up, Assam would represent the northeastern states on the world map of research hubs as a result of the state-of-the art facility here.

Adults infected with the coronavirus in that first wave (March-September 2020) were 40 per cent less likely to become infected during the first six months of Omicron wave (December 2021 to May 2022), a new study has claimed.

The infant was brought to the Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital in early January and admitted to the neonatal ICU, under the care of Dr. Nilesh Satbhai, the hospital's Consultant Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon.

The surgery was conducted on a 37-year-old female patient from Aul block of Kendrapara district. She was admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar with severely painful arthritic knee and hip joints of both sides.

The figures are scary enough to give a shock. In the past five days, 98 persons have died due to heart and brain stroke in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur. Of the 98 deaths, 44 died in the hospital while 54 patients died before treatment.
