The Assam Rifles and other law enforcing agencies seized large quantities of ganja (marijuana) and other contraband items worth around Rs 11 crore and arrested four persons in Tripura and Mizoram on Saturday, officials said.

The security personnel in Mizoram and Assam have seized highly addictive methamphetamine tablets valued at Rs 42 crore and arrested three drug peddlers including two Myanmar nationals during the past 24 hours, officials said on Tuesday.

Seizure of arms, ammunition, and explosives in Mizoram by the security forces continues unabated with 3,000 electric detonators, 700 metres cordtex, and war-like stores recovered on Sunday in the bordering state and two Myanmar nationals apprehended, officials said.

Mizoram Police seized a large cache of sophisticated arms, ammunition and other items from the state’s Lunglei district, which shares a border with unfenced Bangladesh, officials said.

Assam Rifles along with police on Tuesday seized highly addictive methamphetamine tablets, also known as Yaba tablets, worth Rs 173.73 crore in Mizoram, officials said.
