At least 35 stations in the Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR) zone will get an infrastructure boost under the Central government's ambitious initiative 'Amrit Bharat', an official said on Sunday.

A mob set ablaze the vehicle of an IPS officer in Kwakeithel area in Imphal West on Tuesday, while in an another incident, at least 19 women were injured during a clash with the Rapid Action Force in the same district, police said.

The death toll due to the floods in Assam has increased to eight after a man fell in the overflowing water and died in Sonitpur district, with more than 1 lakh people still affected in the state, officials said on Tuesday.
