The US Justice Department has charged former President Donald Trump with 37 counts in connection with his handling of classified documents from his presidency that he carried with him while leaving the White House at the end of his term in January 2021, according to an indictment unsealed on Friday.
Trump, who became the first former President in US history to face federal criminal charges, announced his indictment in a post on his social media platform Truth Social on Thursday.
