The fast-unto-death of six junior doctors at Esplanade in Kolkata, to protest the rape and murder of their colleague in the state-run R. G. Kar Medical College Hospital entered the second day on Sunday.

The authorities of state-run R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata have issued a notification announcing the decision to expel as many as 10 doctors, including interns, house staff and senior residents from the hospital.

The West Bengal Junior Doctors’ Forum (WBJDF), on Saturday evening, announced a unique way to continue with their protests in support of their demands in the wake of the ghastly rape and murder of a junior doctor of R.G Kar Medical College & Hospital by continuing to provide medical services for the patients - and carrying out a fast-unto-death agitation in parallel. 

Four cops of Kolkata Police, who were on duty at RG Kar Medical College & Hospital on the fateful morning of August 9 are under the scanner of CBI as they investigate the rape and murder of a junior doctor in its premises.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday claimed at a special court here that the exhibits and evidence in connection with the ghastly rape and murder of a junior doctor of R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital were changed and tampered with at the Tala Police Station under the jurisdiction of which the state-run hospital falls.
