Days ahead of the International Women's Day on March 8, good news from three northeastern states -- Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland -- that 14 women were elected to the state assemblies in the recent polls against six women legislators in the outgoing houses.
The SDM of Shantirbazar sub-division, also the Returning Officer A Baidya on Friday sought an early enquiry from the SDPO over the violence incident took place at Shantirbazar subdivision on Thursday last in the day of poll counting inside the SDM office.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday gave a stern warning to the opposition political party workers for unleashing violence on BJP workers. He however claimed that launching attacks and carrying out violence are the habits of opposition political parties.

BJP candidates are leading in 20 seats including Bordowali, Ramnagar, Khayerpur, Majlishpur, Badarghat, Mohanpur, Nalchar, Bishalgarh, while the CPI(M) is leading in 13 including Pratapgarh, Barjala, Bamutia, Belonia, Hrishamukh, Sabroom, Bagabassa, Sonamura.
