Spokesperson of All India Trinamool Congress, Kunal Ghosh on Sunday lashed out heavily on the Left-Congress alliance for helping BJP in West Bengal to serve their own interests.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing an election rally in Tripura on Saturday, said that voting for the Congress and the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) would facilitate the return of violence and corruptions in the state.

“A series of promises were kept to make TTAADC more powerful and for the development of tribal people and in everywhere we are working to make the state best state and PM is with us. And we want to appeal to vote for BJP and support the party”, said CM.

The Chief Electoral Officer Kiran Gitte on Friday issued a directive on opinion and exit polls for the upcoming state election and said that no exit and opinion poll would be allowed from February 16 – 7 PM till February 27 – 7 PM.

The Election Commission ahead of the February 16 Tripura assembly elections has made special arrangements for voting for the people living in Indian territory but outside the barbed wire fencing erected along the international border with Bangladesh, officials said on Wednesday.

The collegium, which also comprises Justices S.K. Kaul and K.M. Joseph, met on February 7 and recommended the name of Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh for appointment as the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court.

Voting will be done by postal ballot in 23 places in the state from Wednesday for the next five days, said Chief Electoral Officer Kiren Gitte on Wednesday. He however said that elaborate arrangements are made so that all the people engaged with the election work can exercise their franchise.
