Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday expressed confidence that Rajya Sabha candidate Rajib Bhattacharya will make significant contributions to the state's development after winning the upcoming Rajya Sabha election.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and CPI-M nominees on Wednesday separately submitted their candidatures for the lone Rajya Sabha seat in Tripura for which the election will be held on September 3.

The flood situation in Tripura further worsened on Wednesday with the death toll rising to 10 and over 34,100 people taking shelter in 331 relief camps in all the eight districts, officials said, adding that incessant heavy rains since Monday have created havoc in the state.
