Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Saturday launched the State-wide campaign of Intensified Information Education and Communication (IEC) here at the Secretariat to create mass awareness among the people of the state about HIV and AIDS.

Tribal-based party Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT), the main ally of the ruling BJP in Tripura, will hold a demonstration at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on August 23 to press the Centre to create ‘Tipraland’ or a separate state for the tribals by upgrading the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). 

In response to the recent tragedy at R.G. Kar Medical College, where a doctor was tragically raped and murdered on August 9, medical professionals in Tripura have joined a nationwide strike organized by the Indian Medical Association (IMA).

In view of the unrest in Bangladesh, the Meghalaya government on Monday suspended the operations of 'Border Haats' (markets) along the India-Bangladesh border, an official said.  

The Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday foiled an infiltration attempt by 15 Bangladeshis along the international border in Tripura, while the state police arrested four nationals from the neighbouring country from the outskirts of Agartala, officials said.
