Tripura Police on Friday has arrested two persons for allegedly killing a 41-years old man on being suspicious of cattle smuggler on Thursday in Baldakhal area near Agartala city.

To honour the contribution made by Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis in the fields of statistics and economic planning, Tripura along with the rest of the nation observed the 17th National Statistics Day on Thursday.

He informed that the two persons detained in connection with the major seizure were identified as Piklu Bhowmik and Mahbul Alam both residents of Boxanagar. The accused were booked under the NDPS Act. Police also detained the vehicle.

At least seven people, including two children, were electrocuted to death while 14 others were seriously injured on Wednesday after a chariot made of iron came in contact with an overhead high-tension wire in Tripura’s Kumarghat area, the police said.
