Putting rest to all speculations, influential tribal-based party Tipra Motha Party (TMP) on Wednesday announced it would contest alone in the February 16 Tripura Assembly elections.

“The Congress and CPI(M) came together with an electoral understanding because of the BJP’s misrule in Tripura,” he said, adding that people of Tripura need to suffer for another five years if the BJP-IPFT is voted to power again.

The meeting was chaired by BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharya, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, former chief minister and MP Biplab Kumar Deb, BJP Northeast Incharge Sambit Patra, BJP election in charge Dr. Mahendra Singh, and others.

Speaking with the media, Sushant said that since there was no program of the opposition party, Congress and CPM have chosen various anti-social activities starting from burning the booth office of the ruling party as their party program.

BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee today said that people are ready to bloom the lotus again in Tripura. Bhattacharjee said this during his door-to-door campaign in his Banamalipur Assembly Constituency today.

In this context, Tripura Pradesh Trinamool Congress tweeted, "New era of development is coming to Tripura following @MamataOfficial's ideology. Several top leaders of TMC are going to campaign in Tripura with a message of change ahead of the assembly elections”.

As per a press release issued from office of Chief Electoral Office (CEO) the State Excise Organization seized 2032.165 litres of illicit liquor on January 31 throughout the State which value stands to Rs. 5,12,617.

“Our winning in the majority of seats is confirmed. We are confident that BJP will form the government again. I am receiving huge responses from door-to-door campaigns. People are happy and greet me with smiling faces which indicates the people have faith in us”, said CM Saha.

Accompanied by the Chief Minister of Assam Himata Biswa Sarma and Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, the Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday filed his nomination papers from Town Bordowali constituency to contest in the upcoming assembly elections in the state.

“BJP never do politics for benefits, we do politics for development. Our main agenda for election is more development works for people following the path of PM Modi”, said Dy CM.

“There alliance would not be a big issue for us. Congress is a big zero in the entire nation while CPIM is another big zero in the entire world and if you add them the result will be zero”, he told reporters.

Biswas, accompanied by party Rajya Sabha member Sushmita Dev and state party in-charge Rajib Banerjee, said that the party would announce the second list later on Sunday night or on Monday morning.

Disappointed leaders of both Tripura's ruling BJP and the opposition Congress have resorted to resignations, agitation, and even vandalisation of party offices in different districts to protest denial of tickets for the February 16 Assembly elections.

As the election is approaching, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has intensified his door-to-door campaign in his 8 Town Bordowali Assembly Constituency and has claimed that BJP will win the 2023 assembly poll with a landslide victory.

For the past over five-and-a-half decades, tribal based parties in Tripura tried to play a crucial role in the state's politics but due to their issue based politics sans any ideology they became nonexistent after their issues were resolved or when they raised irrelevant demands.

“The IPFT party will contest from five assembly constituencies of 12-Takarjala (ST), 24-Ramchandraghat (ST), 26-Asharambari constituency (ST), 38-Jolaibari (ST), and 60-Kanchanpur (ST),” Dr. Saha told reporters.
