The Traffic Unit of Ambassa in association with Ambassa Police Station on Monday seized at least 19575 bottles of banned cough syrup – Phensedyl worth Rs. 1.5 crore from a 12-wheeler truck.
The truck was intercepted at Kathalabari Naka Point at Ambassa in Dhalai district and during search 19575 bottles of Phensedyl were recovered having a market value of Rs. 1.5 crore, said police.
Police also said that they have arrested the assistant identified as Mintu Das of Karimganj, however, the driver escaped from the spot.
