3 Bangladeshi nationals held at Agartala Railway Station

AGARTALA:

In a joint operation based on confidential intelligence inputs, three Bangladeshi nationals — including a woman — were apprehended from Agartala Railway Station on Saturday for entering India illegally. The arrests were made by teams from Agartala Government Railway Police Station (GRPS), Agartala Railway Protection Force (RPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and the Intelligence Department.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Kamrun Nesa (23) a resident of Dhaka, Md. Ismail Hossain (22) hailing from Chittagong and Mohammad Nur Hossain (25) also from Chittagong, Bangladesh.

Initial interrogation has revealed that Kamrun Nesa was en route to Bengaluru via Kolkata, while the two men planned to travel to Chennai using the same route. All three are suspected to be operating as cross-border brokers, possibly involved in illegal trafficking networks.

Officials suspect that the trio had entered India through unfenced or vulnerable stretches along the Indo-Bangladesh border and intended to use the Indian railway network to reach different metropolitan cities.

Sources in the police said that sustained interrogation is underway at the Agartala GRP police station, and investigators believe that further arrests may follow in connection with the case. Authorities anticipate more crucial leads emerging from the detained individuals regarding the possible human trafficking of illegal immigration rackets.

A case has been registered at Agartala GRP Police Station, and the accused will be produced before a court on Sunday.
