8 Bangladeshi women, Indian tout held in Tripura

AGARTALA:

The Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) have arrested eight Bangladeshi women and one Indian tout at Agartala Railway Station as they attempted to board the Kanchanjunga Express bound for Mumbai in search of work.

The Officer-In-Charge of GRP Agartala, Tapas Das, stated that all nine Bangladeshi nationals had entered Tripura illegally from the Sonmura sub-division under the Sepahijala District.

"We received a tip-off that a significant number of Bangladeshi nationals might be leaving the state via the Kanchanjunga Express from Agartala Railway Station, having entered the state illegally. Promptly, the GRP and RPF set up a trap to apprehend them. We noticed some individuals heading towards the platform. Based on their suspicious behavior, we detained them. In total, we apprehended 8 Bangladeshi nationals and one Indian tout. During preliminary interrogation, they disclosed their intention to travel to Mumbai and Pune via Sealdah in search of work. They admitted to illegally crossing the border from Comilla of Bangladesh," explained the officer.

He identified the Indian tout as Sentu Kumar Deb, while the Bangladeshi nationals were identified as Tania Hasan Seikh, Sathi Khatum, Surmi Sheikh, Ruma Sheikh, Rejuwan Sheikh, Beauty Khatun, Supriya Sheikh, and Majeda Biswas Pinky.

"We are currently interrogating them and have filed a case against them. We will present them before the court to request police remand," he added.
