Anil Kumar Khandelwal, the General Manager of East Central Railway, announced on Wednesday that the train service between India and Bangladesh will soon operate at full capacity as the construction of the Agartala-Akhaura railway link is rapidly nearing completion.
During his visit to Agartala, Khandelwal inspected the progress of the Agartala-Akhaura railway link at Nischintapur in West District.
Addressing reporters later, the NFR official expressed optimism about the swift progress of the work, anticipating the imminent commencement of train operations between Bangladesh and India. This development, he noted, will facilitate the movement of people and goods, bolstering the economy and fostering development. Efforts to formalize agreements between the two nations are underway to ensure seamless operations. Concurrently, infrastructure development within Northeast Frontier Railway is also making significant strides.
"Each year, numerous new lines spanning approximately 400 km are added, connecting almost all states. Despite challenges such as heavy rainfall causing damage to railway tracks at Jatinga Lampur and New Harangajao, prompt restoration efforts have ensured normal train operations. Additionally, electrification initiatives are progressing smoothly," he elaborated.
