The state agriculture minister Ratan Lal Nath on Tuesday inaugurated Krishi Swarna Samridhi Week in Unakoti district of the state and said that the government is focused on enhancing the livelihood of the farmers and make them self-reliant.
Addressing the event, the minister said that the government is working to make the farmers self-reliant by increasing the production of food grains and horticultural crops. The government is ready to provide all kinds of support to the farmers to increase the production of agricultural products, he said.
He said, “Special importance has been given to make farmers financially self-reliant by providing timely seasonal seeds, fertilizers, modern agricultural machinery.”
On the occasion, the Agriculture Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid emphasis on doubling the income of farmers. The state government is working on the direction of the Prime Minister, he said, adding that the government has given importance to soil testing of agricultural land and science-based farming to increase the production of agricultural products.
The minister also emphasized on encouraging farmers to practice science-based farming. He said that during the 6 years of the current state government, the production of agricultural products has increased to a large extent in the state at a proportional rate.
