AIKS state committee seeks compensation for farmers affected by cyclone ‘Midhili’

The state committee of the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) on Monday demanded immediate assistance from the government for the farmers affected by the cyclone ‘Midhili’.

A delegation of the AIKS state committee comprising of senior CPI-M leader Pabitra Kar met the director of the agriculture department here at Agartala Krishi Bhavan and sought intervention of the government for an immediate relief for the affected farmers.

“The agricultural farming lands across the eight districts of the state were largely affected due to the cyclone Midhili, where the seasonal vegetable farmings were damaged and the paddy plants were toppled to the ground, he told reporters.

He said, “We sought the intervention of the department to go for a thorough survey of the affected farming lands across the state and provide financial assistance to the affected farmers from the Disaster Management fund at the earliest, so that the farmers can start their vegetable farming for this winter.”

On the other hand the AIKS state committee on Monday also demanded the government to supply seedlings and others for cauliflower cultivation this season.
