The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has imposed a fine of Rs 4 lakh on an individual for causing widespread confusion with mysterious hoardings and posters bearing the phrase “What is your Name” (Tumahra Naam Kia hai) displayed across various parts of the city without prior approval.
The unauthorized advertisements, which lacked any clear attribution, piqued the curiosity of residents and officials alike. Addressing the issue, AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder said, “For some time, we observed these posters and hoardings without any proper identification, creating confusion among the public. When the issue gained attention online, we launched an investigation to determine the source and whether any permission had been granted.”
Upon investigation, it was found that no official approval had been sought for the displays. The authorities examined CCTV footage, which revealed that a person from Abhoynagar was responsible for installing the posters on behalf of a company.
In response, the municipal authorities issued a notice to the individual and levied a fine of Rs 4 lakh for the unauthorized advertisements. Teams were also dispatched to remove the hoardings and posters from public spaces.
