In a resolute move to ensure a hassle-free Durga Puja celebration, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumdar announced a comprehensive plan to eradicate illegal encroachments within the city within next three days.
He said that this initiative aimed to alleviate traffic congestion and maintain cleanliness during the upcoming festivities.
The Mayor of AMC today chaired a meeting which was attended by representatives from the district administration, senior police officials and traffic department personnel.
"AMC is unwavering in its efforts to rid the city of traffic snarls and unattended waste. We are actively engaging with the community, visiting different neighborhoods daily and addressing citizens' concerns," said Mayor Majumdar.
Expressing concern over unscrupulous traders illegally occupying streets for business activities during Puja, Mayor Majumdar said the resultant traffic disruptions and inconvenience faced by the public.
He emphasized past successful efforts in reclaiming areas such as Kaman Chowmuhani to Post Office Chowmuhani and Paradise Chowmuhani to Battala. However, he lamented that some traders had subsequently resumed business, leading to recurrent traffic jams in the vicinity.
With determination, Mayor Majumdar declared, "Within the next three days, we will reclaim these occupied areas, restoring order to our roads and ensuring a seamless flow of traffic for our citizens."
