In the aftermath of the catastrophic floods that have impacted Tripura, a heartwarming initiative spearheaded by local artists offers a glimmer of hope.
The IMA Foundation’s Bridge 2 Worlds has organized a special exhibition in Agartala, featuring a collection of paintings created to support those affected by the floods. All proceeds from the sales are directed to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Rupa Shill, a key organizer of this commendable effort, shared the background of the initiative.
She said that on April 15 one art workshop was held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan uniting around 60 talented artists who channeled their creativity into artworks.
“This event was more than just a display of artistic talent; it was a testament to our community’s resilience and compassion in the face of hardship,” Rupa explained.
She said that after the flood has hit the state, they have decided to do something for the people of Tripura and have decided to sell this picture of the exhibition for the flood relief.
The resulting artwork is now available for purchase from September 17 to September 21, offering art lovers a chance to acquire beautiful pieces while contributing to a crucial cause.
Currently, 10 paintings have been sold, with many more awaiting appreciation from potential buyers. Each piece is priced reasonably to ensure accessibility, reflecting the artists’ dedication to making a difference. Rupa noted that while the prices vary based on the quality of the paintings, all artworks remain affordable, encouraging widespread participation in the relief efforts.
“The funds raised from these sales will directly support flood relief initiatives, providing an opportunity for art enthusiasts to contribute to a significant cause while acquiring unique artworks,” Rupa added. This initiative highlights the transformative power of art, not only in inspiring individuals but also in driving meaningful social change and support.
