Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday said that the Ayushman Bharat scheme introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a new direction in ensuring health security to the Economic Weaker Section across the country.
Dr Saha said that out of 13,40,172 Ayushman cards issued in the state till August this year and 2,54,511 beneficiaries have already availed medical facilities while 3,993 beneficiaries received treatment outside Tripura.
Dr Saha said this addressing the state-level programme at Pragna Bhavan on five years completion of Ayushman Bharat & two years completion of Ayushman Bharat- Digital Mission.
“One of the government's goals is to provide better health services to the people in marginalized areas of the state. Various steps have been taken to improve the quality of healthcare. The government is highly committed to the overall development of medical services, and as part of that effort, special emphasis has been placed on the infrastructure development of district hospitals to alleviate the pressure on the main referral hospitals of the state”, said Dr Saha.
Dr. Saha further emphasized that the state government is working towards realizing the Prime Minister's vision of building a healthier India by expanding health services and enhancing infrastructure.
The Chief Minister also facilitated several Ayushman Bharat- PMJAY beneficiaries and handed over awards to various hospitals/ health centres & Arogya Mitras for successful implementation of the scheme.
The Ayushman Bharat unit of South Tripura district has been awarded as the Best Unit in the State.
During the program Health Secretary Dr Debasish Basu, Additional DDG & Director (Emergency Medical Relief) Dr Leimapokpam Swasticharan, Health Service Director Dr Supriyo Mallik and other dignitaries were present.
