B'deshi photographer booked for flying drone in restricted area in Delhi

NEW DELHI:

A 33-year-old Bangladeshi woman was booked for flying a drone in a restricted area in the national capital on Monday, the police said.

The woman, identified as Momo Mustafa, a resident of Dhaka who is a freelance photographer by profession, arrived in Delhi on Sunday.

According to the police, after receiving information regarding a drone flying near the Akshardham temple in East Delhi, a team from the Mandawali police station was sent to the spot.

“The police found Mustafa flying the drone. Since she was flying it in a 'No Drone Zone' without permission from the competent authority and in violation of Section 188 (deliberate disobedience of an order that is duly promulgated by a public servant empowered by law to do so) of the Indian Penal Code, a case has been registered against her. Further investigation is underway,” said a senior police officer.

Mustafa is BBA graduate who works as a freelance photographer in Bangladesh.

“She got a tourist visa for six months in May 2023. She came to India on June 25 and is scheduled to return on July 5. She had also visited Kolkata in 2020 and 2022 for medical treatment,” the officer said.
