Bangladeshi national held with Indian currency

AGARTALA:

Acting on a tip-off, the police of AD Nagar police station arrested a Bangladeshi national from the market area of Gazaria camp, near the border, last night. The arrest was made while the suspect was attempting to cross the border into India illegally.

During the arrest, the police recovered Rs. 8,000 in Indian currency from him. The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of AD Nagar police station, Bijoy Das, provided detailed information to the media, stating that the accused has admitted to being a Bangladeshi citizen. A case has been registered against him, and further investigation is underway.

OC Bijoy Das further mentioned that the police are interrogating the suspect to ascertain who aided him in crossing the border. If any brokers or touts are found involved in facilitating his entry, they will also be implicated in the case.
