In a significant step towards sustainable development, the state science and technology minister Animesh Debbarma on Saturday launched bio-village 2.0 project in atleast 5 villages in Tulasikhar R D Block in Khowai district.
The minister explained the significance of this project and said that the Bio-village project will play a supporting role in developing villages and improve the socio-economic status of the families in the villages.
In this project, various programs will be implemented in coordination with the Department of Fisheries, Agriculture, Animal Resource Development and various departments of the State Government for the development of villages, he added.
The project will be implemented in 5 villages of East Behalabari, Vidyabil, West Rajnagar, West Champachhara and East Takchaya, where 318 families of the villages are expected to be benefitted from this project.
The minister said, “Initiative of the state's biotechnology department has already got recognition from Niti Aayog, marking a significant milestone for eco-friendly rural development in Tripura. So far, 26 bio-villages have been set up in five years in different districts to contribute to climate change mitigation goals.”
