BJP workers led by the party’s general secretary and 6-Agartala candidate Papia Datta today blockaded the VIP road in front of the Secretariat protesting the attack on BJP workers by alleged CPIM cadres led by MLA Sudip Roy Barman yesterday at Vivekananda Housing Society.
A large number of BJP workers today sit on the vip road chanting slogans and demanding arrest of the culprits.
Speaking on the issue, Papia said yesterday after the election, some cadres of CPIM adopted by MLA Sudip Barman has launched an unprovoked attack on around nine BJP workers after they came home.
“They were rushed to hospital. Women and children also came under attack. Nobody is allowed to enter in the Abasan as women backed by CPIM and Congress are being used to guard the gate. Still now many workers have hidden themselves inside the Abasan”, said Datta.
She further claimed that Police has helped BJP workers during the attack or else murder could take place yesterday.
“If police failed to arrest the culprits then chances are high that some people would lose their life in this constituency. When you visit GB Pant hospital you will find our karyakartas in a critical condition. They were attacked with a motive to kill them. They are now battling for life even children were not spared from the attack. We have faith on police administration but they are not able to enter in the area because of some women. But arrest is necessary and that is why we have blockade road. We will not lift our blockade till police don’t arrest them”, she threatened.
