He however claimed that TIPRA Motha is not a factor for the party.
“Since morning election is holding in a peaceful way but this unholy alliance between CPIM and Congress would try to create nuisance to malign the name of our party. Which they did in past election and people wanted relief from them and that is why BJP formed government in 2018”, he said.
He also said that this alliance won’t harm BJP as people have rejected them and out of frustration both CPIM and Congress form this alliance.
While former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has alleged that BJP backed miscreants have allegedly attacked polling agent of Left Front in many places under Dhanpur Assembly Constituency and claimed that voters are now protesting after they were stopped to cast their vote.
“Voters started mobilizing. In many places, BJP backed miscreants tried to prevent the voters. From Agartala we have immediately informed Chief Electoral Officer and said he is taking up the matter. We tried to contact the Additional Returning Officer (AROs) but unable to connect him but at the same time another AROs said they can’t handle such small things as he is in strong room. So the point is at morning why he is in strong room in morning”, alleged Sarkar.
He said that wherever voters are facing obstacle, are protesting and blockading roads, chanting slogs.
“In parts of Udaipur, Belonia such incidents are taking place. But this all are proving again that BJP is scared and people will not allow such thing time”, he added.
CPIM state committee Secretary Jitendra Chaudhury however admitted that so far the election was peaceful and said, “In my constituency election is still in process in two polling stations due the malfunctioning of EVM machines. More than 300 voters are waiting in the queue. Over all there has been very peaceful voting. People have emerged largely which is a very good sign for democracy and over all so far the information I have received till now barring few stray incidents in constituencies like in Santirbazar, Dhanpur, Mohanpur then in Khayerpur etc, till now the it is peaceful even there were attempt of prevention but people have themselves combated”.
PCC president Birajit Sinha however would demand repoll in some polling stations and said, “Election was good and peaceful but in my assembly miscreants used black tape on EVMs machines which was removed later. People are with us”.
