The ruling BJP party on Saturday declared candidates for 48 assembly constituencies out of 60 for the ensuing assembly elections in Tripura slated to held on February 16 next.
Announcing the candidate lists from the party headquarter in Delhi, the party spokesperson Sambit Patra said that keeping in mind on empowering women; the BJP party fielded at least 11 women candidates for this upcoming election.
The BJP party kept the candidates unchanged in most of the assembly constituencies with Union MoS Pratima Bhoumik to contest from Dhanpura constituency against Kaushik Chanda of CPI(M) party.
The Dhanpur Assembly constituency which was the home turf of former chief minister Manik Sarkar, who is dropped from contesting this election.
Sambit Patra however told the media that candidates for rest of the 12 assembly constituencies will be declared soon.
