Day after the leader of opposition and CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chaudhuri threatened legal action against newly elected BJP MLA Dipak Majumder for violating state legislative laws by not resigning as Mayor before taking oath as an MLA, the ruling BJP on Monday welcomed the challenge of the CPI(M).
Addressing a press conference here at the party headquarter on Monday, the BJP state spokesperson said, “Being a Mayor of AMC Dipak Majumder had contested from 7-Ramnagar assembly constituency for the by-election and later he won the election by a record margin of 17500 votes. Accordingly, he took the oath of his office in the state legislative assembly as per the law.”
“Jiten Chaudhuri’s threat of moving to HC against Mayor Dipak Majumder is nothing but to defame the transparent policy of the present government and to discover a malign campaign against the government,” Chakraborty told media.
Meanwhile, the BJP spokesperson further targeted the leader of opposition over his allegation of Tripura Shantiniketan Medical College being run by TMC leader Anubrata Mondal, facing jail on charge of serious crimes and corruption.
Chakraborty said, “At a time when Tripura under the rule of the BJP government has been witnessing a massive transformation in the health sector with advanced medical facilities, the opposition CPI(M) is trying to defame the government.”
“People of Tripura are well aware of the fact that who and how the much talked about G-Net like organisation was brought to the state illegally under the rule of the Left front government. The previous government had provided land, human resources, tools and amenities of a hospital to one of the firms of Kerala to run a medical college in Tripura,” he told reporters.
