The former Chief Minister and Politburo member Manik Sarkar on Thursday castigated the ruling BJP-led coalition government in Tripura and alleged that the government is averse to the development of the state and failed completely to meet people’s expectation.
Addressing a poll campaign at Dhanpur assembly constituency in the run up of the bye-elections, Sarkar alleged that the situation has worsened more in Tripura under the rule of this ‘fascistic’ government.
“This government has brought disaster to the developmental pace of the Left front in Tripura, where people are dying out of starvation, especially in the rural areas of the state,” he alleged.
He said, “All kinds of developmental works started during the time of the then Left front government were brought to standstill with an adverse effect on the people’s livelihood. This fascistic government is looting the people of this state apart from bringing attacks on all walks of life especially in the rural pockets of the state.”
He also accused the government over drug menace in the state and alleged, “Youths in the state are being deep-necked in drug addiction, because government doesn’t want the youths and the young generation of the state to prosper and voice against them.”
In context of the upcoming bye-elections in Dhanpur and Boxanagar assembly constituency, Manik Sarkar said, “The people of Tripura who are frustrated with this fascistic government are eyeing on the bye-elections. There is a need to replicate people’s frustration in the vote box this time.”
