In a heartbreaking turn of events, a leisurely afternoon bath turned fatal for Shubo Chowdhury at Prem Sagar in the Kamthana border village of Bishalgarh subdivision.
The 18-year-old, accompanied by friends for a refreshing dip, tragically lost his life due to drowning.
Despite lacking swimming skills, Shubo ventured into the waters alongside his non-swimmer friends. In a sudden turn, he found himself unable to resurface. Panic ensued among his companions, who raised alarm, prompting a swift response from locals and authorities.
The Fire Brigade, upon receiving the distress call, swiftly initiated search and rescue operations. After a painstaking two-hour search, Shubo's lifeless body was recovered from the depths of Prem Sagar. Efforts to revive him proved futile as medical professionals at Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital pronounced him deceased upon arrival.
Political figures, including Bishalgarh MLA Sushant Deb, were quick to extend their condolences and support to the bereaved family, emphasizing solidarity in their time of immense sorrow.
