BSF jawan critically injured in suspected suicide attempt

AGARTALA:

A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was critically injured after allegedly attempting suicide with his service rifle on Monday in Maharani, located in Tripura’s Gomati district.

The jawan, identified as 24-year-old Mani Kundan S from Tamil Nadu, was posted at the Amrit Para Border Outpost, police sources confirmed.

“He reportedly shot himself on the left side of his chest using his service weapon. He was first taken to Natunbazar Hospital and later referred to Gomati District Hospital,” said a police official.

A duty doctor at the Gomati District Hospital said, “The BSF personnel was brought in with a gunshot wound to the chest, suspected to be self-inflicted. After initial treatment, he was urgently referred to GB Pant Hospital in Agartala for advanced care. His condition remains critical.”
