BSF launches special operation; seizes contraband items worth over Rs. 17 lakhs

AGARTALA:

Launching a special operation along the India-Bangladesh border at Srimantapur in Sonamura subdivision in South Tripura district, the troopers of the BSF seized contraband items worth over Rs. 17 lakhs.

The BSF in its press communique on Monday stated that on December 10 a special operation was launched against narcotics in Srimantapur area in which 1,550 nos Yaba tablets worth Rs 7, 75,000 were seized.

In a separate operation, the BSF troopers also seized Eskuf/ Phensedyl, sugar and other contraband items having a combined seizure value worth Rs 10,11,290, it stated.

The press communique further stated, “BSF is committed to combat the issue of border smuggling on the Indo- Bangladesh international border and against the menace of Narcotics items in the state of Tripura and endeavor to make it a Narcotics free State.”
