Budget allocation for advertisement increased in last five years: Secy of ICA

The Information and Cultural Affairs Department Secretary Pradip Chakraborty today said that the budget allocation for advertising has been increased from Rs 3 crore in 2018 to Rs 15 crore in 2023.

“In order to develop a classical culture in the state, it has been decided to organize classical festivals under the initiative of the ICA. Moreover, to encourage the writers and poets of the state, literary conferences will be organized in the state in the coming days. Musical instruments will be distributed to folk art centers in the state to develop folk culture”, he said.

He further informed that various programs will be organized in 75 border villages of the state in July-August as part of Azadi Ka Amrita Mohotsav.

In a press conference said that if a journalist of the state who has received an accreditation card dies in an accident, the dependent family members are being given a monthly family pension of Rs 5,000 through the ICA Department.

“Apart from this, the department is continuously making efforts to revive and develop the cultural heritage of the state. The Department has allocation for advertising has been increased from Rs 3 crore in 2018 to Rs 15 crore in 2023. In the financial year 2022-23, 461 different cultural programs have been organized as per the cultural calendar of the department”, he said.

He said that Rs 50 lakhs has also been sanctioned for providing financial assistance to 91 cultural organizations in the state during the financial year 2022-23.
