Ahead of the train run of railway line connecting Bangladesh under the Agartala-Akhaura rail project work, the Central government has declared the Nischintapur rail station as Land Custom Station (LCS).
The trial run for the railway line connecting Nischintapur in Tripura to Gangasagar railway station in Bangladesh is scheduled for either September 9 or 10.
The Nischintapur rail station will now provide transit, customs and immigration and cargo handling services for goods and passengers traveling between Bangladesh and Northeast India connecting Tripura.
The state transport and tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury had thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Baishnab and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha for the initiative.
