CEO appeals to maintain peace in state; chairs all party meeting

AGARTALA:

The Chief Electoral Officer of true state election commission Kiran Gitte on Sunday convened a meeting with all the Political parties in the Conference Hall of the DM & Collector and discussed the issues of post-poll law & order situation in the State.

In the meeting, the Chief Electoral Officer, Tripura mentioned that as promised, Election Commission of India has delivered free, fair, transparent and peaceful Assembly Election in the State.

The CEO however thanked all the political parties for their co-operation in making this Assembly Election a free, fair and transparent.
He requested all the political parties to appeal their supporters to be tolerant and to show patience and not to take law in their hands. If any violent incident happens, then they should approach the Sub-Divisional Magistrates and the concerned Police authority.

Personal animosity and family feud shall not be projected as a political incidence as it will give a wrong message to the society and it may deteriorate law and order situation, he added.

Election Commission of India is monitoring the law and order in the State on daily basis. No post poll violence of any kind shall be tolerated. Adequate CAPF is available to ensure peace and tranquility. Police authorities and CAPF shall take strict action against those involved in disturbing the law and order in the State.

UP govt brings fresh measures after stampede deaths in Mahakumbh Mela

A day after at least 30 people were killed in a predawn stampede at the Maha Kumbh, the Uttar Pradesh government has enforced stricter measures for better crowd management and safety of devotees as it restricted vehicular movement, cancelled VIP passes, increased security deployment, and ended needless restrictions on the pontoon bridges that connect the mela city.
