In a shocking incident a class V student on Wednesday sustained severe injuries after an explosion in an abandoned toilet of a school in Sepahijala district of the state.
The incident triggered panic among the locals of Kalsimura Gram Panchayat area under Kalamcherra police station.
The incident took place after the 11 years old boy identified as Taiful Islam entered into the toilet of Nagar Higher Secondary school and came in touch with an explosive reportedly hidden in a bag by some anti-social elements. Reportedly, a total of five bombs were kept in a bag inside the toilet, out of which one exploded after the victim took this in his hand suspecting it as other items.
Alarmed by the explosion students and teachers from the school rushed to the spot and rushed him to Boxanagar Community Health Center, from where the attending doctors referred him to Agartala GBP Hospital for advance treatment. The victim sustained injuries on head and hands.
On the other hand, Police along with the bomb squad team rushed to the incident spot and recovered four live bombs from the bag.
Reacting to the incident, the Deputy Chief of the local Panchayat Jias Uddin held the CPI(M) responsible for the incident and alleged that the CPI(M) goons had readied those bombs to hatch untoward incident after the election, but as the election result surprised them with their loss against the BJP party, they left no stone unturned to hide those bombs in isolated areas.
