Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha appealed to people to come forward in donating blood in a move to save people and to mitigate the crisis of blood.
“Donating blood is a great gift. Blood has no caste or religion. People should come forward when other people will be in danger”, said Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha said this while inaugurating a blood donation camp organized by the 9-Banamalipur Mandal Committee at Nazrul Kalakshetra today.
Inaugurating the blood donation camp, the Chief Minister also said that if one donates blood, four others will benefit.
“There are 12 government and 2 private blood banks in our state. Patients face problems when blood banks do not have blood. Due to the election process, for two months there was a crisis of blood and that is why I have been urged to come for blood donation. After that many people are coming for voluntary blood donation. We have urged the public to come forward to donate blood to overcome this shortage of blood. In response to this call, blood donation is being done everywhere in the state today”, said Chief Minister
On the occasion, Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha said that this government is the people's government. The goal of this government is to run with everyone. The government is moving forward under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The government is working to build Ek Tripura, Srestha Tripura.
Addressing the special guest at the event, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder said, science has created many things but could not make blood substitute.
“Blood donation camps are being organized to bridge the gap between blood demand and attendance”, he said.
In addition, former legislator Dr. Dilip Chandra Das and President of BJP Rajib Bhattacharya also spoke on the occasion.
Welcome speech was given by the Vice President of the 9-Banamalipur Mandal Committee. MLA Ratan Chakraborty, Tripura Tea Development Corporation Chairman Santosh Saha, AMC Mayor-in-Council, corporators, BJP Sadar District Committee (Urban) President Asim Bhattacharya, Social worker Chandrasekhar Deb, and others were present. A total of 129 people donated blood to the camp.
