The central government has approved Rs 2000 crore for the state under the Jal Jeevan Mission of 2023-24 financial years.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha wrote on his Facebook, “Glad to share that the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti approved Rs 2000 cr for Tripura under Jal Jeevan Mission 2023-24”.
He said that the fund is more than total Rs 1930 crore Tripura received in the last 3 years.
“I wholeheartedly thank Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi ji & Hon'ble Union Minister of Jal Shakti Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat ji for sanctioning the fund. This will ensure piped drinking water to more household”, the Facebook post of CM reads.
Later, speaking with reporters, CM Dr Saha said that his government is working to fulfilling the target of providing drinking water connection to each and every house and this fund would help the state government in achieving the target.
“I want to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central government for this. Around 56 percent of households received pipe water connection. Yesterday also I chaired a meeting at the south district. In many places, the number of houses connected with pipe water connection was less. So this fund will also help us and will make this time 100 percent”, said CM.
