CM Dr. Manik Saha calls for control on medicine prices

AGARTALA:

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday called for more awareness on fixing and controlling the prices of medicines made available for the common people of the state.

Dr. Saha was addressing a seminar on 'Fixation of Ceiling Prices under NLEM 2022- Ensuring Affordability' organised here at Agartala Pragna Bhawan on Wednesday. The seminar was organized by Tripura State Pharmaceutical Price Monitoring and Resource Unit.

He said that there is a need of more awareness from the grass root level about regulation on the sale of medicines. “The state government is also following the principle of transparency that the Prime Minister is emphasizing and is working on the health sector as a priority,” he said.

Dr. Saha, who also holds the health portfolio, has directed the health department to look into the possibility of not only selling medicine but also making medicine in the state and establish new industry in the state. Emphasizing on zero tolerance on drug, he said that the state government is contemplating to open a de-addiction center in every district of the state.
