Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday met the General Manager (Construction) of North East Frontier Railway here in his chamber at the secretariat and discussed a series of issues related to the further development of railway infrastructure in the state and ease passenger movement.
A delegation of NFR led by the General Manager Arun Kumar Chowdhury met the Chief Minister. During the meeting, the chief minister discussed the issues related to the development of railway services and infrastructure in the state.
The issues mainly included progress in electrification of railway lines, introduction of electric passenger trains from Badarpur to Sabroom, conversion of single line railway track to double line track, introduction of Agartala-Guwahati intercity rail service, current status of construction of 23 railway overbridges, upgrading of Agartala, Dharmanagar and Udaipur railway stations under Amrit Bharat Scheme, Agartala-Jammu, operation of Agartala-Puri and Agartala-Gaya Express train, arrangement of alternate rail line from Pecharthal to Dharmanagar via Kailasahar, rail link from Jirania railway station to Bodhjungnagar and R K Nagar industrial estate, railway line from Sabroom railway station to Sabroom Integrated Check post.
Dr Saha also discussed Vande Bharat Express train from Guwahati to Agartala along with construction progress of fuel storage depot at Sekerkot and details about Agartala-Akhaura rail project.
The Chief Minister however advised the railway authorities to take necessary measures to transform the Agartala railway station into a world-class railway station besides cleanliness of various stations.
