Aiming to enhance learning outcome and improve attendance of girls’ students in schools, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday distributed by-cycles to the girls students of Class IX of Pallimangal Higher Secondary School here at Khayerpur and said that the initiative will play a supporting role in the expansion of women's education and women's empowerment.
The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been implementing various projects for women empowerment since 2014 and as part of this the 'Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao' programme was launched to strengthen women empowerment in the country.
“From 2014 to 2024, the success of multifaceted initiatives for the development of women in the country has improved the socio-economic status of the women of our state. Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao program has also been successful,” Dr Saha said, adding that efforts have also been made to make women self-reliant through the creation of ‘Lakhpati Didi’.
He said, “Not only bicycles, scooters will also be given to 100 meritorious students in the coming days. The government has taken initiatives not only to promote quality education, but also to improve the infrastructure of schools.”
“There are 125 Vidyajyoti schools in the state. The government has also taken various initiatives for the development of these Vidyajyoti schools. 8,400 teachers in the state have been trained in basic education at Nipun Mission. 4,227 pre-primary schools have created Nipun Corners in the Nipun Mission. The government has taken this initiative to develop the talent of our children,” he said.
